04/07 – WeWriWa

Weekend Writing Warriors (WeWriWa) is a group of writers who agree to post 8 sentences of either a published work or an unpublished work on the blog on Sunday (voluntary and you sign up). On Sunday, those who have signed up (and anyone else) has the pleasure of traveling (virtually) to samples of different author’s stories, novels etc. Great fun!

Cheated a bit this week…more than 8 sentences (but a couple are only 2 words).

An excerpt from Awakening – a wip fantasy novella or novel (it hasn’t decided yet how long it wants to be).

path-in-the-woodsYonnie’s gaze flicked between Glenneth-Kor and Tayril. “Good luck. You’ll need it.”

The Chief Councilor poised on the top step, his ample body framed by the curved archway of the entrance. Garbed in the traditional blue robes of a councilor, he stood with arms folded across his chest, mouth turned down. Even this far away, Klintel’s hostility battered against him.

The other councilors clustered around Klintel. Noting their expressions, Tayril feared Yonnie’s prediction correct. He doubted the council would be finished with their questions and natterings before sunrise. They would insist upon discussing the hunting party’s experiences in minute detail, and they rarely decided anything quickly.

  1. It seems like power has gone to Klintel’s head; even when his people are in trouble, he’s dragging his feet just to revel in his own importance. Great snippet!

  2. Sounds like he needs more than luck – the tension negative attitude and bureaucracy will be quite a mountain to overcome!

  3. You have portrayed the scene complete with responsibility and duty – the immediate call to action and the cautious politicising inability to respond.
